The market stalls sell everything you could imagine. Food of all types, hardware, software, furniture, jewellery, gold and silver, spare parts for cars, animals of all shapes and sizes etc. etc. etc. This stallholder sells nothing but olives. We visited local craftsmen using methods that have not changed in thousands of years.

Market traders often come from the surrounding mountain villages. This is the donkey garage where they keep their beasts of burden. No pay-and-display machines here. The inhabitants of the mountainous regions are Berbers rather than Arabs, and they are determined to keep their identity as a separate culture.
