PALERMO
Sicily, Italy

Palermo is a large, sprawling city with noisy traffic, fumes and a lot of rubbish. We had a secure berth next to the customs boats: they had armed guards around the clock!

We looked around town and walked down the main street on Sunday afternoon. So did thousands of Sicilians. The road is closed to traffic and half of the population comes out to take an afternoon stroll along the broad streets.

PALERMO TOWN
Sicily, Italy

There are some fine buildings but it was sad to see so many grand old houses falling into decay. The prosperity of a bygone age is evident all around, but poorer modern times are leaving their scars.

CEFALú
Sicily, Italy

Cefalú is a delightful little town with a castle and a cathedral. The streets and the seafront are busy with tourists. We wanted to stay longer but only stayed a couple of nights.

PEACUFUL ANCHORAGE
Sicily, Italy

These were our first nights at anchor. The weather was kind to us and the sea was calm so we slept well.
